Discovering your Market Position

By | Consulting, Marketing | No Comments

Have a lot of competition?

Most of us do, which is why positioning is so important. Your market position is the perceptual location where you fit in the marketplace amid your competitors, and in the minds of consumers. You NEED this, without it you risk getting left behind. Determine your market position with these 3 steps:

1. Self-discovery

Use a third party and ask your patients why they choose you. Also ask those who go elsewhere and why they didn’t choose you. This will take time. You won’t receive an abundance of responses at once, but slowly but surely you can craft this information into a list of top criteria that patients use to select a practice.  Find out what it is that your patients are truly buying from you.

2. Competitive analysis

Do you have a close eye on your competition? Make a list of who’s ‘top’ in the market and study their positions. Secret shop their practices and discover what they are offering and what makes them stand out. Can you identity why patients would choose their practice over yours? Be objective, so you can truly see where they stand on the criteria from the first step.

3. Market analysis

Now that you have identified your competitor’s position, map it out. Take a look at the market as a whole, and reveal potential market opportunities and gaps. Use the information discovered in step one to visually see the differentiation among products in the patient’s mind.

Things to remember

Don’t try to be all things to all people or you won’t be anything to anyone. Have a true identity and avoid making your practice something that it’s not. For the most convincing position is the one you deliver on.

Tips On How To Be More Productive

By | Consulting | No Comments

We all have days like this: You have a huge list of things to do and absolutely no motivation to get it done. Here are just a few tips to help maximize your productivity and stay on top of your to-do list.

Schedule and Prioritize

Make a list of all the things you need to get done. Start with the tasks that are most important and what will take you the most amount of time. Once you start to get some of your big tasks out of the way, your other ones won’t seem so daunting. Also try and keep to a schedule. Set specific periods of time that you will be devoted to a project. This will help keep projects from dragging on for unnecessary lengths of time. If you know you have a deadline, you are more likely to stay on top of it.

Take Breaks

A really important thing to remember is to take breaks. This may sound counterproductive, but taking a break actually helps you focus and concentrate more, when you are working. Your brain can only stay focused for a limited amount of time. Taking a break helps your brain to rest and get reenergized, so when you do get back to work you are more focused.

Set your Thermostat

This may sound crazy, but setting your thermostat to a specific temperature can help keep you on track. If the temperature is to cold or hot, you start to focus more on how uncomfortable you are than your work. The recommended temperature for increased production, ranges between  71˚ F and 77˚ F, depending on your team’s preference.

Invest in Yourself

Another thing that helps when you need to be productive, is making sure you are investing in yourself. Make sure you are eating healthy, exercising and getting eight hours of sleep. Being rested and energized helps you focus more on getting your work done.

Don’t Multitask

The most important tip to stay productive, is by not multi-tasking. When you have a lot to get done, it might seem like you need to do multiple things at the same time to fit everything in. The truth is, it’s really just slowing you down. The brain is not good at rapidly switching from one task to another. None of your tasks will get your full attention and you are more likely to make mistakes. This is counterproductive, because correcting the mistakes will cost you valuable time. The best way to tackle your projects, is to focus solely on that one task. Before you know it, it will be done and you can move on to the next thing.

8 Habits of Highly Effective Practices

By | Consulting | No Comments

Working with practices day in and day out for over 17 years, Eyemax has seen just about every barrier practices face in order to truly implement change. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, it just means it’s going to take work. Work to incorporate these 8 habits of highly effective practices today, and start producing happy patients and happy employees.

1.  Teamwork Atmosphere

No job is too big or too small for any one person in the practice. If the front desk is tied up, everyone else should be comfortable taking a phone call. The entire staff should be on the same team with the same goals in mind, so make sure it’s functioning that way.

2. Take Ownership

You are in the business of customer service, so if a problem arises, solutions should be found… immediately. Stop passing the buck from one employee to the next, and start taking responsibility of what is in front of you.

3. Set Goals

This is often overlooked, but the easiest to implement. Set goals every month to feel accomplished. Whether it’s surgery goals, or reducing your no shows, make sure these goals are known by every employee, whether related or not. Remember this is a team effort!

4. Educated Staff

Nobody likes to feel left out. Hold monthly meetings to ensure each and every staff member is aware of any changes or new things happenings in your practice.

5.  Top-Down Management Approach

Management must be involved and on board in order for any new change to happen. If the management is not present or unreachable, employees lose momentum and success is limited.

6.  Rewards and Incentives

Reach a goal? Reward your staff. Whether it’s monetarily, or it’s a spotlight in the monthly meeting and a thank you card. Employees want to be rewarded and acknowledged, in order to continue to be engaged.

7.  Brand Recognition

Have an identity. Know what you stand for, and make sure that message comes across in everything you do, whether it’s day-to-day interactions or an overall marketing strategy.

8. Consistency

Consistency is the only way to see true change and growth. Effective practices never waver when it comes to implementing or accomplishing anyone of these habits.

Tax Return Marketing

By | Consulting, Marketing | No Comments

Tax day is quickly approaching, so put the FUN back in tax ReFUNd and create some exciting offers for patient’s looking to spend that hard earned cash. Here are a few ideas for offers you can use for your business.

Use The Number “15”

Since tax day is on April 15th, you can give 15% off to either everyone or just to an exclusive few through email or your social media channels. Another idea is to use both the numbers “4” and “15” in your offer, so if you sell something near the $5 or $500 price point you could discount it to $4.15 or $415.

Use Tax Form Numbers

Bruegger’s Bagels is once again giving guests its annual Tax Day break on its Big Bagel Bundles. April 11-15, Big Bagel Bundles are just $10.40 – about a $3.50 “deduction” – for guests who are members of Bruegger’s Bagels’ email club. By incorporating any promotion, with well-known tax terminology, you immediately can become memorable.

 “Use Your Refund”

Encourage your early-bird filers to use their refunds on an investment they can see everyday! By simply reminding them of the opportunity and value of spending this refund with you, you can remain top of mind throughout the entire tax season.
